【Menopausal symptoms? Acupuncture and manipulative treatment can help relieve symptoms】

Symptoms of menopause in women vary widely, including physical pain, headaches, hot flashes, irritability, and insomnia.

It is possible to alleviate or eliminate pain from the outside through acupuncture and manipulative treatments such as Shiatsu and massage, but acupuncture treatment can also improve the condition of the body from the inside by adjusting the hormonal balance of the autonomic nervous system.

This patient came to see us because she had been suffering from daily headaches for several years since she began to experience menopausal symptoms.

She said that some days the pain was mild, while other days the pain was severe enough that she had to take painkillers.

In addition, the muscles around her eyelids were twitching and spasming, she had blurred vision, dizziness, stiff shoulders, and stiff and painful neck. She was generally suffering from pain and discomfort in her upper body.

STEP 1: Loosen up shoulders while improving blood circulation

This patient had significant tension in the upper edge of the scapula and pectoralis major muscle.

STEP 2: Check the range of motion around the neck and identify the area of pain

For the cervical spine, we will identify the area that is particularly painful by checking with the patient and the area of pain, and then we will further loosen that area. The overall range of motion with this patient was limited.

STEP 3: Massage the scalp to release tension in the skull

People who suffer from headaches tend to have stiff scalps. This patient's scalp was being pulled toward the neck and shoulders. Massage that incorporates acupressure relieves the tension while enhancing the relaxation effect.

STEP 4: Acupuncture is applied to acupressure points for headache relief and to acupressure points for relieving tension around the eyes

In addition, I use acupuncture on the entire face to further relieve headaches, tension around the eyes, and excessive tension and pain in the neck. It is very effective to treat not only the area of pain but also the surrounding area.

SETP5: Acupuncture is administered to the neck, and then the overall relief of pain are assessed

Acupuncture improves blood circulation in the stiff front neck and relieves tension. After the needles are removed, the skull, scalp, cervical vertebrae, shoulder blade area, and pectoral muscles are further loosened and adjusted, and the range of motion is improved and the degree of loosening is assessed.

You dont' have to live your menopausal period with discomfort and pain

This patient visited me about 10 times so far, once a week, and after the fifth visit, she reported that the stiffness around her neck and shoulders had eased. Although she still had slight headaches, they were no longer severe enough to require medication, and the spasms around her eyelids were definitely less frequent than before.

Another positive effect was that her complexion became brighter.

Acupuncture, shiatsu, and massage improve blood circulation around the face, such as the head, neck, and shoulders, so it's only natural that they would improve blood circulation and complexion in the face, but this patient seemed to see particularly marked improvements.
