In my blog posts I explain various symptoms
and proposed treatments

【Are you suffering from pain or numbness in your fingers or elbow cramps? You may have carpal tunnel syndrome】

Some patients suffer from pain and numbness in their fingers, spasms from the elbow to the hand, and stiff muscles in the arms.

If you experience those symptoms, you may have carpal tunnel syndrome.

This condition is common among people who work in jobs that require long periods of use of their hands and wrists, such as chefs, hairdressers, florists, and athletes, but it can also occur in people who do not use their hands or wrists excessively.

It is more prevalent in women due to hormonal changes, but it can also be seen in men.

Like many pains, it tends to be worse at night.

People who work in the professions listed above will naturally experience pain or discomfort while at work, which may interfere with their work.

This patient, a hairdresser, came to my practice because she felt pain from her wrist to her elbow when holding scissors, and numbness in her fingertips made it difficult for her to hold perm rods.

STEP 1: Release tension in the inner and outer muscles of your forearm

Due to pain and overuse, there was hypertension in the muscles of the forearm. Those muscles rotate the wrist inward and outward, and when these muscles are overly tense, it becomes difficult to control the wrist and it is painful to move it. The patient claimed a cramping sensation from the elbow to the fingers.

STEP 2: Gradually increase the movement of your stiff wrist to relieve stiffness

The movement of the carpal bones is very poor and they are very stiff. By alternating between the front and back, we gradually release the tension and improve the mobility.

STEP 3: Add more movement while checking the inward and outward movement of your arms

While closely checking the movement and relaxation, gradually add more movement and further attempt to relax.

STEP 4: The acupuncture is perfomed and electricity (pulses) is applied to the deeper areas

Acupuncture is applied to the brachioradialis muscle. By connecting electrodes and passing electricity between the two ends, it is possible to effectively affect the deep tissue of the muscle.

Don't think it is an occupational disease - please consult us

If the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome become severe, it not only makes it difficult to work, but also makes it difficult to button clothes, open and close zippers, pick up small items such as keys with your fingertips, and open and close lids, interfering with your daily life.

This patient reported that after a few visits to my practice, her symptoms, such as pain, numbness, and stiffness and tingling sensation had improved significantly.

Ignoring pain and discomfort can lead to chronic conditions.
