"I am going to go climb Mt. Fuji now"
I received an email this morning from Ms. S, whom I treated for LSS at the previous clinic I worked at.
She had a sever back pain, and also pain and numbness in her legs.
For me, this patient is one of the most memorable patients.
The prognosis after the onset of symptoms due to LSS was not good at all. She kept on coming for regular treatment, however she decided to have an operation in search of further recovery. She started visiting me again after the operation.
Ms. S had symptoms that interfered with her daily life during the early and middle stages of the onset, but she was positive about the treatment.
I was impressed by her attitude as a practitioner, and her strong determination gradually made me believe, that she is going to recover.
At that time, I was motivated by Ms. S, who was in the middle of a difficult time, and Ms. S also believed in me. I believe that, ideally, treatment should be a collaborative effort, not one-sided neither by the practitioner nor the patient.
It is for this reason that I would like to know various things related to your mind and body, and I will tell you what I can do to assist you.
Ms. S, who visited the me again, still had numbness in her lower extremities after the surgery, but it gradually eased. Occasionally Ms. S claimed minor symptoms, but by that time I was able to believe in Ms. S's full recovery.
Since then, Ms. S started training in the nearby mountains with the goal of one day climbing Mt. Fuji.
Due to the pandemic and her rehabilitation post operation, it took her 4 years to finally have a pleasure of climbing Mt. Fuji.
I hope she enjoys climbing four times as much.
