Today's blog is a short update, but I wanted to share the news.
Yesterday, I participated in the MINATO City Half Marathon 2024 and successfully completed the race.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of treating many runners, and through our conversations, I found myself thinking that I, too, would like to participate. I also realized that by joining, I might discover something new about myself and gain a deeper understanding that would help me treat my patients even better.
So, I made the decision this spring to take part.
From there, I enjoyed choosing my sneakers, picking out gear, and planning my training routes.
However, I was quickly "baptized" with a subungual hematoma—basically, my toenail came off.
I also struggled with shin splints (pain in my shins).
Transforming my body in my mid-50s was no easy feat, and there were many tough days. But on race day, with beautiful weather and support from the crowd along the course, I was encouraged and able to run with real enjoyment.
Afterward, I was filled with gratitude for being in good health.
Immediately after crossing the finish line, I was so elated and excited that I mistakenly held up the wrong time panel! That moment, and the entire experience, will truly remain in my memory.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me along the way.
